guys its not the program its the renderer, and what you are using it for. There is no best "3d app" they are all good and all have their good traits. What really makes or breaks a picture is the rendering system used. Some rendering systems make great stills and crappy animations, like 3dsmax has a crappy rendering system, while lightwave might have a good rendering system, but you can get 3rd party systems which are industry standards as far as rendering apps go.

but than again, you could put a n00b on lightwave, and a pro on bryce and obviously the pro would do better. Its all about who has more experience and who knows more.
