I don't think you can the OS is not provided on disk an I don't think you can get it via itunes, or download it from apple.

Hello,

I don't think so. I am not even talking about the software needed. The drive itself is not sold anywhere. It is a mini drive that you can not just buy from NewEgg or anything like that.

You will have to get a new one. Check eBay.

Cheers,
Mak

You can buy the micro drives there just rair not many places stock them or have a supplier for them, but that's only a minor issue the OS that the Ipod runs is not available an i have looked even on the apple dev space the only thing that comes close is the iPhone SDK that has a emulator but you can't export it to the atchual hardware.

I even had the idea of using ghost to clone the the software but it's not suppored (file system) so thats out, so the short answer is no. The longer answer is no you can not because there is hardware availablilty issues and lack of the offical software for it.

There might be a way around the issue of the OS btw there is a few linux based iPod operating systems out there maybe you can try an look into one of them, but any action you take to mod your hardware or software on the ipod will voild any warinty you have an could end up with a useless ipod.
