Default TextEdit to PC format?

Hey guys... i work on a mac at the studio and for my current project, I used textedit or whatever its called to make mix/master notes for each track (recording a cd). I dont have access to a printer there so I need to bring those files home to print them out. I dont have a Mac at home, so what can I do? I tried copying the files (in .doc format) onto my usb drive and brought them home, but when opened, it was just a bunch of jibberish. Any way to convert this without installing anything on the mac? Its a G3 btw.

Thanks guys!!

A G3? That might mean it's running OS 9? Anyway, what file formats do you have the option of saving it as? See if there's RTF or plain text...

It was either RTF or Doc.

Have you tried RTF? That's usually pretty universal. I'm surprised that word format wouldn't work.

If RTF fails, maybe something's there's a different encoding set on either your computer or the G3. I don't really know anything about that though. Try going to Format (menu) and click "Make Plain Text" (save the other one somewhere first so you don't lose any formatting). Now try it.

NOT NOTEPAD...
Open it in wordpad....

Wordpad actually identifies filetypes and line delimeters......
