Default powerbook G4 help

I turn on the lap top fans start the start music plays but the screen remains black. I'm pretty sure its not the lcd screen because maybe 2 out of the many times ive tried you could see the lcd working. Is the problem something on the motherboard if so how much would this cost to replace?

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor?

plug it into a monitor, see what happens, my guess is the lcd/video cable is bad. sometimes it will work and sometime it will not, but plugging it into a monitor will detest any notion of whether its the screen or not.

push down on it hard and snap the processor back into place?

wtf is he talking about?

Yikes.
That snapping sound probably wasn't a good thing.

Like the others said, try plugging it in to an external monitor and see if there is an image. If there's no image, then its probably a problem with the video card or the logic board. If it does work, then you more than likely have a bad connection with the built-in LCD.
