Default osX86 : A different perspective

It seems that the vast majority of the tech community is thrilled that they will be able to run OSX on their desktop pcs.

I'd like to remind everyone that this software is illegal, and that by downloading it you are stealing directly from Apple corporation.

The main reason Apple has been able to sell their hardware so successfully is because it only runs on Apple software... Now that Apple hardware is no longer required, their hardware will sell much less effectively, considering that PC components are generally much cheaper than Apple hardware components.

The bottom line is, OSX86 is illegal, and the equivalent of what happened in this case it would be similar to stealing Microsoft source, and recopiling it for another platform.

Every person who downloads OSX86 takes a calculated risk. They know that there is a chance Apple will break down their door and take them to AppleLand, and they will never be heard of again. This is an international forum, and piracy is not illegal in some countries. I'm not saying I condone piracy, but this doesn't apply to countries that Apple cannot reach.

You make it sound like it will be illegal to port OSX86 to generic boxes when it comes out. There will be ways around it, and that quashes that point.

So thank you, Mister Wonderful, for starting an "anti-piracy" thread and rubbing it in our faces. You could have posted this in another thread, like mac_mogul, and not been so Jack Webb about it.

AppleLand hahaha nice. Yea i think Apple would be more hig strong then MS they dont do s*** about people downloading i have not seen one person yet to be jailed from there newest thing about checking the CD-key. But Apple hmm you never know about Old Apple this is something people never done before. I think Apple has more balls then MS to Jail and Sue then MS. Plus Apple COmputers are going to Own when they come out for x86 the real version mit jsut be so good that MS will lose and be nomore whioch i hope will happen.

personally i think apple deserves a good kick in the pants for not allowing 95% of computer users to use thier OS. If somebody cracks it, all the better. If Apple released this software for PC, i would buy it (this is the first time i have went out and purchased an OS, most of the time the os has just come pre-installed on my pc).

You could dual boot into OS X and check the weather widget and then boot back into Windows to run your apps.

LOL
VERY good point Thendar

Hey, they COULD play 3D chess ya know...

Well, technically, Deimos Rising and whatever other games are normally included with OS X, are usually a part of the Applications included with iLife. So really, the ONLY game that comes installed with OS X is that incredibly hard 3D Chess... lol
