Question Osx 10.1

I have OSX 10.0.4 and OS 9.2. I've been needing to bridge between the two in order to use applications at the same time. But a new mp3 purchase is forcing me to upgrade to 10.1.5. I found the free download package for 10.1 -10.1.5, but am unable to find the download to get me to 10.1 from 10.0.4. Is there a way to get there without buying the newest software @ $179.00? OR is it better to exchange my mp3 for one that is compatible with 9.2 and forego OSX for now?

Well the upgrade to 10.1 from 10.0 actually cost money, so you have to buy it from somewhere (if you can find a place that still sells it), though I suggest, if you can, that you upgrade to 10.3 jsut because its the most recent system software and it will last you a while.
