Default New Generation iPods?

The last iPod revision was in September. It's about time that they are updated. Worry of getting something only to have it outdated in a week is what's holding me back from buying one right now.

Does anyone know anything about the iPod revision? Or even the 4G iPods release? Or perhaps the Mini's 2G?

I'm hoping for PDA features : Either a stylus, or some sort of built in note taker proggy. I'm also hoping for BlueTooth capabilities!

PDA is doubtful, though its not farfetched to strive for note taking ability (I mean, the ipod already has read-only vcard abilities, why not step it up a notch with a keyboard that attaches the bottom?)

Bluetooth 2 will most likely make its appearance on the ipod, as its speeds are concurrent with current firewire speeds.

The way I think about it, is that I just simply want an MP3 player. I don't want all these extra features that are coming out on the iPod. Perhaps more battery life, and FM capability, but that's all I can think of. Perhaps the normal iPods are evolving into PDAs and the iPod mini's are going to continue the digital music player line...or I'm just speculating randomly.

The other thing I could do is wait until the fourth generation ones come out so I can get a third gen for a vastly reduced price.

I agree. An Mp3 player is fine for me. The only thing I like on the I-pod is def. the scroll wheel on the front, thats cool.

I like almost everything the iPod has right now. The 20 GB model would more then suit my needs. In my mind, the best improvement for now is battery life. Which, by the way, would still work fine for daily use if I put it in the dock every night.

Yes, I really appreciate the iPod as an Mp3 player, but I really would not like to haul around an iPod, a Palm, etc... with me wherever I decide to go It would just be nice to have an all in one device.

But otherwise... I feel the next iPod will have a redesign, and a larger storage option

what type of storage does the Ipod have? is it magnetic, or like a flash drive?

It's an actual hard disk drive. I don't think there is currently another technology to get an entire 40 gigabytes in a package that size. I guess we'll have to wait for the IBM Nanodrives (the Millepede project).
