Hey everyone. Just found this forum. I hope it's helpful and hope I posting in the right place.

We are a toy company that does print catalog, packaging, ad design etc. We are Mac based, all with new G5's. For the 6 years I worked here I've never seen a monitor calibrated! Because of my complaining, I have been giving the job to recommend new monitors (we need about 12-15). Our IT department is pushing Dells. I've read a few good things about the higher end ViewSonics.

I can't really find much in the way of information on the web. Really frustrating. I have read that CRT's are still much better for color than LCD's. Is this still true?

If you can help me or know of anyone who can, I'd be forever grateful! If you know of any good sites for information, that would be great.

This is still true However, there are certain companies who offer LCD monitors with CRT quality.

ViewSonic is a good quality monitor -- your best bet for bang-for-buck performance. However, they don't offer a very impressive life-span.

Your best bet for quality would be LaCie. There monitors are pretty much second to none. They also offer calibrators for their monitors, so you always get true performance.

Helps a lot. I've posted this question on various different sites and that's the first helpful response I've recieved! LaCie is a good suggestion but I think my boss is set on CRT's for both cost and all the information I provided him about the color accuracy of CRT's! Lacie doesn't make CRT's anymore!

Maybe I could convince him otherwise!
