Default Looking at purchasing an iPod

Hey People,

I'm thinking about buying an iPod or competing brand MP3 player. So far I've boiled my decision down to either of the following:

* Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra 40 GB MP3 Player
* Apple 20 GB iPod M9282LL/A

I saw a 20 gig iPod in an Apple store about a month ago, and it was docked between speakers. This is the kind of setup I want. I have some questions:

1) On Amazon, as part of the feature set, it says that the iPod has a "USB 2.0 cable (dock not included)". What dock??

2) Does anyone know if it's possible to dock the Creative in the same fashion as the iPod?

3) I've seen some great MP3 players, but none of them offer one feature I would love to have: the ability to record audio (like an old friend's MiniDisk player). Is there such an MP3 product out there?

Cheers,

Kyoto

First thing, 20 gig iPod has been replaced by the 30 gig iPod with video capabilities. As a result the 20 GB version's price should go down.

The iPod in the speaker setup is a product designed specicially for the iPod, and as far as I know there is no equivilant for the Creative. Due to the popularity of the iPod, you get access to the hundreds of accessories available.

Many MP3 players can record audio, but neither of the two you've narrowed it down to can (except iPod can with a $40 accessory, actually). The Cowon iAudio X5 records audio I believe, as can the iRiver players.

Get the 30Gig. Don't go for the 60Gig, as its battery life is terrible, and no-one honestly needs that much space.

the new 60gb has better battery life than the 30gb (it has a larger battery capacity) with 20 hours (music) life compared to 30gb 14hours

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your tips. What's pron? I've decided that I'm not going to buy anything - there's nothing that suits my needs. I want a player and recorder that I can dock between speakers. Not so interested in video capability. I think I'll save my money for this:
