Default Ipod video cant play movies?!

When i bought the ipod video, i thought i would be able to put all my movies and music videos i downloaded onto it, so i got quicktime pro and open the file(movie) then click file export...now when this happens, i get the movie to go on the ipod but there is no sound also sometimes, there isnt even a sound or anything on the screen but pure white(nothing there). What is going on and what am i doing wrong?

If they're not in the proper file format, or you exported them wrong, it may not work. Did you get these from the iTunes store?

No i downloaded these from Limewire, they work fine on the computer, they are all in MPEG1 Muxed and they play in windows media, so then i change it to quicktime(the file) then go to file open file get the movie clip then when the movie clip is playing i go to file export then when its done(takes very long) i click and drag from where it saved and put it into ITunes which then loads it onto the ipod video, but then its either that it has the movie playing but no sound or other way around, sometime when i convert the movie from windows media to quicktime then even there the movie wont play anything(sound or image).

ipod video = only plays h.264 and mpeg-4

get ffmpegx or something and covert all your movies to mpeg-4 and they'll work just fine.

hopefully the new firmware will enable all sorts of other video formats, but right now only h.264 and mpeg4 work

In short, H.264 is a video standard supported by Quicktime and the iPod Video.
