Apple claims they wanted the word "Mac" to be in all of their new models. So "iBook" will most likely be called the "Macbook". The rest of their line already has the word "Mac" in their names. I doubt they would put the word "Pro" in the new "Macbook Pro", unless they were planning on making a 'weaker' version of the line of computers.

And by the way, for $2000, you get an excellent deal. The new powercord technology, the new mobility video card with twice as much power as the previous mobility video cards and GDDR3 memory, plus the AVIVO technology. You get much faster processors (two to add to that), very fast DDR2 memory running at 667mhz as oppose to the old DDR2 memory running at 333mhz. The battery life is longer, the displays are somewhere around 66% brighter. I think that the fact that with all those improvements, the price of the new Macbook Pro still costs the same as the old 15 inch PPC Powerbook equivalent is amazing.

EDIT: I've heard a rumor that the mac mini is the next to be remodeled.

This was actually called the "Macintosh Portable" also dubbed Espirit, Malibu, and Laguna. It is classified with the PowerBooks, but was never referred to as a PowerBook.

For years, customers paid extra for the Mac's build quality and software stability -- Now we can pay the same amount and get feature filled computers with more than twice the capabilities/speed/power as before, with the same kind of build quality and software reliability that the Mac has always had. Like I've said before, I'm absolutely amazed that the prices didn't go up

listen they changed the name because powerbook kinda has a bad history espesialy the titanium series.Thats why i think they changed it.

I think I should have said 68k "portables", as in the first gen Powerbooks, codenamed "Tim" and "Asahi".
