Default iBook Firmware Failure

I have an iBook PowerPC G3 800MHz which I needed to do a firmware update for, so I booted from the OS9 partition, which is on the same Volume, went ahead and loaded the Firmware update app, and i clicked accept, and nothing happened, clicked it again, and nothing, so I left it for 5 mins, shut it down, and now when I boot it, it just sits, with a flashing ? and Mac smiley face. I have tried holding Option, resetting the PRAM, is there any other way to do this without the CD as I dont want to have to find it. Hardware wise, its fine as it boots to a Ubuntu LiveCD perfectly.

Any help is appreciated!

Ruan
