Default Humm...

Ok, starting college next year and...I need a Mac (based of the fields of study that I am going into AND the fact that they are far superior to pc's in these fields as well as the fact I want one).

So, I was thinking that since the new Mactel's weren't as fast as they were supposed to be (although no doubt those problems will be worked out eventually) and the high likelihood that Apple will still support the PPC software lines for years to come I was going to purchase a souped up iBook G4.

However, the graphics card is a let down for me (32MB video memory is no good) and I don't have the money to buy one of the more powerful ones.

I have a Linux based PC right now that has outstading specs and can do anything I need it too, but I am not going to be able to carry this thing around...

So, then I started considering one of the new iMac's, but that is also a desktop. Blah.

What should I do?

Cool "PimpinPC..."

I would have suggested a Powerbook g4 T2 for the workin. Try to get one with an ATi Mobility RADEON instead of nVidia.

Get a Powerbook G4 titanium or any other Mac notebook if you're going to school. Desktops are not an option, and nor is intel worth the free hotdog.

The only G4 Powerbook I will be able to get is a 15'' (nice specs but it's a TONE of money)...

why not the 12"?? my 12" powerbook as 64mb geforce 5200 go

lol i just think its kind of funny that ATIRAGEPRO is telling you to get an ATI instead of an nvidia.

but really, this nvidia card is more than i'll ever need on a ppc mac

Well, it's only 64mb and it's a 5200 - have never heard good things about 'em.

After putting 1GB memory in it (512 is just too little) the total came to about $1800, pretty steep still but I don't think I am getting out of this cheap either way...
