does anyone know how to open up an Ipod to replace the hard drive or can anyone send me a link that will show me how? Please let me asap... thanks so much
I seriously doubt that you are able to do that. Search google for battery replacement... but as far as the hard drive goes, the only way you'd be able to put a bigger hard drive in your iPod is if you had the hard drive from a bigger iPod, and if you had that, why upgrade?
Just trade in your iPod for a newer one at Apple and save some money.

Completely controlled by Apple, dude. You have to send it back for repairs.
BTW...why do you need to replace the drive?

Actually, you CAN replace the first generation iPod's drive, and possibly some others, I'm not sure. Check here.
