Default Firefox 1.0.4 Problems in OSX 10.4.2

Are any of you guys having random crashes of Firefox? It seems that certain pages that may have ActiveX scripts or certain embedded video just decide to freeze up, and I'm forced to force quit.

Any ideas what might be going on? Any suggestions?

First the obvious: have you updated or are you in the process of updating to 1.0.6? If not, you should probably consider that.

Also, Firefox 1.5 is supposed to have better handling in OS X (the Alpha release certainly does), so you could stick around until that comes out.

just a question, but why use firefox when you have safari?
They're practically the same thing, and safari works infinitely better than fiirefox

I am a web designer, and since, to my knowledge, more people use Firefox than Safari, I go with Firefox. Safari doesn't have realtime updating of RSS bookmarks that I can simply click on in a list, and Safari also handles CSS HORRIBLY.

I choose firefox because it is growing in popularity.

They are NOT the same thing at all. Firefox is a Mozilla (Gecko) browser. Safari is based on KHTML.

It's unfortunately true that Firefox on the Mac platform has lagged behind it's Linux and Windows equivilants, but I expect that to change soon. If you want a Mozilla-based browser that functions extremely well on OS X, try Camino.
