Lightbulb external dvd-r

I was wondering if it is possible to use any type of external dvd-r with an iBook G4. I know I could get the G4 with a superdrive which is $200 extra. But if I can get an external DVD-r for like 120 I'd rather do that. Anybody got info?

Th external will work, but it will not be suported by iDVD, though you can use it with programs such as Toast and iTunes. I suggest buying a Pioneer one, tohugh pretty much any firewire one will work.

Well, I have a feeling that an external would cost MUCH more than having one built in. The cheapest DVD-R drive I've seen is around $300 US and that was in a MacMall magazine. So unless you need the versatility of having two optical drives, I suggest opting for the built in superdrive.
