Default DVD-RAM drive

In my G4, I had a Mat****a LF-D211A DVD-RAM drive. I've replaced it with a DVD-burner. Here is where my question lies:

Is it possible to put the Mat****a drive in an x86 PC, and make all the functions work correctly?

Thanks in advance!

I'd assume so, as long as you have the apropriate type of connection. A CD-ROM drive I pulled from an older Mac (new enough to have a CD drive, but not much newer) was a SCSI connection, and I didn't feel like going through the hastle of getting SCSI equepment, only to find it was probably broken. If it's IDE, though, I'd try it.

Yes, it will work as long as PC drivers exist.

Default Yes it is possible...

I actually have the exact same drive, that I took out of my Mac G4, working in a PC (PIII 662) right now. (Mat****a DVD-RAM LF-D211A) To tell you the truth I do notice a considerable performance loss, I believe it may be writing slower than 1x. This might be due to the fact that windows uses a generic driver for it and I was unable to locate any other one online.
