| The sucess of the iPod has prompted apple to split its corporation into another business unit because the iPod was taking focus away from its core hardware products. As it loses market share in the PC arena will Apple stop making computers to focus on newer markets and technologies? What do people think?

| Well Apple split the iPod division off into a separate entity so they could have their own dedicated R&D, product time line and so on. I believe it will only help to speed up the development of any future iPods.

| Monster Techie | And there will never (in our lifetimes anyway) not be an Apple Macintosh computer line. The people who buy macs are a minority, yes... But in the world, a minority can mean millions of people. I don't think Apple has any plans whatsoever to remove the Macintosh from it's line-up.
