| Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software
Blogger Ed Bott has posted an item about Apple’s Software Updater pushing unwanted software out to the public. The latest irritation was a required update for the iPhone Configuration Utility, even though Bott has never plugged any Apple-branded hardware into that particular system. Apple has been pulling sneaky stunts like this for a long time. As I wrote last year, "Once again, Apple is using its automatic update process to deliver massive amounts of new software to users… And it’s delivering this massive payload without even a pretense of proper disclosure and without asking consent from its users." |

| Re: Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software I can vouch for this.
I dont even own a iPhone. Why in the world would i need this??? I dont own a iPod or anything. The ONLY reason why i have the updater is cause of Safari. So why is this a item that must be installed?

| Re: Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software This is especially annoying for me, as most of the servers/computers here are Mac based.

| Re: Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software What i find extremely funny is that Apple fans have bashed Microsoft for their bundling and such actions yet here Apple is doing it themselves. If it wasnt for the fact that i do testing for all browsers i wouldnt even install Safari. But it is needed for the testing i do.

| Re: Apple Software Push Installs Unnecessary Software Safari is great for me now, 4.0.3 has fixed all the bugs I'd complain about. No new tab button, glitchy on gifs, etc.
