I use Linux first thing, and you can't take a bit of humour, can you? It took me a grand total of about 5 to 10 seconds on Google.
I still want to know what strong commands OS X lacks that Linux does not lack. Anyone who makes a statement like that definitely does not know ANYTHING about UNIX, FreeBSD, or Linux at all (and I don't pretend to be an expert myself).

Anyhow, if looking it up makes me such a loser...than doesn't checking that link in more detail than just a glance make you one too? So I shouldn't have locked that up in the first place, but than you looked at what I looked up to tell me I did it wrong. So I should have spent more time than 10-15 seconds looking it up...but that would make me even more of a loser! Is this a 'do it right or don't do it at all situation'? Isn't that better than nothing?
By the way, you didn't specify what version you wanted. All you said was that you'd mail a couple bucks to anyone who found you a DOS version, so that is what I found. And you still haven't sent the money
And stop calling me things like '*******' and 'loser'...this seems more like Marc-bashing than civilized arguments to me.

Doom 3 is a BEAST! The thing eats frame buffers for breakfast! I wish theyd make Half Life 2 for the Mac (tehy wont, but its nice to dream)
Anyway, algu7344, I am issuing you a public warning to calm down. Youre getting all hyped up over a stupid thread! If you keep this up, Ill have your posting priviliages suspended, to be returned when you actually know what youre talking about.
Case in point, case clutter:
G5:
This case is a thing of beauty. No wires hanging out, nothing. Just pure cleanliness.
Compared with...
A Dell:
You dont think thats cluttered?

| Listen here buddy, I dont claim to know everything about your G5 Macs, and Im sure you dont know everything about PC's either. A PC can be just nicely configured as a Mac if you know what your doing. But the fact is many people dont, so that is why their cases look like that. Only a retard would have crap like that littered all over in their case like that. I hate Dell's, so I agree with you there.
qiranworms, I wasnt trying to start an arguement with you, but I was fighting with the Mod, not you. I respect Linux users alot, I think Linux is best **** thing made these days. So sorry about our fight. but g5orbust, I am done with you. As you should with me. |

I know a lot of people who say how good Linux is but don't use it themselves ...I used to be one of 'em myself, until I started using Slackware primarily. Now I've been using Ubuntu (Debian based) and I don't see any reason to use anything else right now.
By the way, if I could afford it I'd have a G5 myself. My dream setup is something like an X86 tower running Linux, a dual G5, a Powerbook, maybe a TabletPC...and if I could possibly get anywhere NEAR affording all of that I'd already have some synths and keyboards including a Kurzweil pc2x, Yamaha Motif ES 8, a Fender Rhodes of some sort, a Yamaha EX5, an Alesis Ion, a Yamaha KX5 with wireless MIDI, a Hammond B3...getting carried away here...maybe I should just stop dreaming...that setup is worth well over $10 000.

| I am not a hardcore linux user myself, but I use live cd versions like Knoppix and Slax. (Slackware based) Glad we are back on a good note. |

It is my job here to know stuff about the platform and help people out. I own two Macs and a PC, so I know what I know from mostly hands on learning and reading. I know enough about the Mac platform to know that it is a very strong platform that people should not take lightly or brush off to the side. When I see people do that, I get angry. I apologize, but thats the truth of the matter.
Though, for future reference, please dont come on so strong. There are others that are not as... how should I say it?... willing to let go as I am. Presenting an opinion is one thing, an attack is quite another. G5orbust, out!

| Yeah, i do agree that the G5's case is an amazing piece of equipment, along with the imac g5 (how the **** did they do it!), but the question is, are you going to be looking at the inside the case all the time, or only when you upgrade ram, hdd etc. We all know dells are fairly elcrappo, especiallly when you look at the insides of them. But nobody worries about the insides as long as it doenst over heat. Well if you have $6000 to spend, i bet you could buy a case that could rival the g5 in looks (beat it in expandibility though), and do wire wrapping and make his case look great, and put great hardware in there as well but it would cost heaps. A super $800 lian-li aluminium case isnt going to make my Divx process any faster, or get any frame rate improvements on doom 3.

Okay...a good case isn't entirely necessarily and it shouldn't be the key of an argument, but it is nice to have a clean, simple, and elegant case like that. Though for those who build their own machines, there are HUNDREDS of amazing cases you can get. And morever, if you dislike the case of any machine, be it an X86 or a G5, you can relocate the insides of the machine into one you prefer. Some modding may be required to get a G5's mainboard into one of them though...not sure about what it's like design-wise.
Quick Google search brings me here...just one of many examples of places to get really sweet cases.
