Laziness is terrible, isn't it?
Yeah, the only thing worse than an IT guy is an old IT guy. They got that far in the sector and most likely make alot... I imagine they came of age during the DOS and mainframe days - which is fine, but they can't apply that knowledge to today's world. Can a 1950's era mechanic work on a modern car? He may understand how an internal combustion engine works, but there's a bit more to it than that. Also, a good number of these guys have contracts with the company they work for so they can't get fired - or its really, really hard. Picture it... 1989, they were making $40/hr and companies were fighting over technology personnell. They sign on the dottedline which says they can't go to another company until this year XXXX.

The worst IT guys are college IT technitians...

I called our IT dept three days ago to have them come over and unlock one of our Dells. Some dork lost the passwords last year and then left town...

Three days... if they don't show today it'll be four...

Well the college guys aren't dumb, they just don't have a clue. Theold guys had a clue back in 1988, but since Cyndi Lauper stopped doing IBM PCjr commercials they've been in the dark.
