Default Wireless router being funky.

Ok so I have a wireless network setup and it works fine, the problem isn't the network, it's the router, I'm almost 100% sure.

For the past few days, the router has been doing this thing where the the computers that are wired still work fine, but the W-LAN light stops blinking and any computers on the W-LAN get disconnected and can no longer find the network. Any ideas what could have caused this to just happen out of the blue? Or is it just hardware wear & tear?

Probably just the router going out on you.
If you had another one you could borrow to test that would be a great way to determine.
4 to 5 years is a pretty good length of time for a router.

Have you moved any wireless phones or other wireless devices that could cause interference right before this problem arose?

Hmmm, does a landline count? I have a phone sitting pretty close to the router and I just moved it there a week ago... Now I can't remember if I was having these problems before then or not >.< crap! lol, I'll move it and see if it helps, thanks.

only if it is a wireless landline broadcasting on the same frequency as your router.

A sure sign is if it rings and you pick it up you loose connection.

I'll test that now, the router is working fine atm, so I will try calling and see what happens.

Also try changing the frequency of the router.

Just made a call, still was able to bring up the homepage and such in the browser on one of the wireless computers. I just moved the phone a few feet away from the router if that makes any difference. It was sitting less than a foot away from it before.

How do I do that? There's no switches on the hardware so I'm assuming it's something you do via software, if I can do it at the 192.168.1.1 page that's fine, but I don't have the install CD anymore. Is there perhaps a way to change the frequency of the phone?

EDIT: I found where to change the frequency, will this affect the wireless computers at all? Or will they pick up the new signal fine?

It'll not affect the computers at all. They'll adjust themselves.

Change it to the exteme end, routers care usually defaulted at 6, which means everyone is on that channel.
