Default Wireless printer

Is there a way where I can make my printer wireless to my laptop. For example I want to print something while I'm in the living room but my printer is in my office.

I have a Canon iP4000R. It has issues when printing more than one page. It doesn't always work. This is especially true when printing photos or anything which has a large amount of data. Can anyone share a method to rid this problem?
