Default Wireless Pcmcia card, please help...

I bought a wireless Pcmcia card for my old laptop, but can't get it to work. Windows can't detect the card.

Minimum requirement of this pcmcia card is at least Pentium II, and Windows 98 SE. My laptop meets this requirements - any ideas why the card doesn't work? I borrowed my friend's card and it doesn't work either.

I have updated the BIOS, to no avail.

My device setting properties shows the 2 PCMCIA 32 bit card bus controller to be working., but no matter what I do e.g. "enable IRQ steering", a yellow exclamation sign stays on the pci network card - and I keep getting the message "NO wireless lan adapter" everytime I try to access the wireless network.
