| Ok, good so far. So try to ping microsoft.com through your command prompt. After this, goto Internet explorer and type in 192.168.2.1 and log into the router. THen goto the WAN settings or the Status tab. Does your router have a valid external IP address, mask, and gateway?

| I had already checked Ping 10.0.0.2 as the manual had suggested and got the correct response
Reply from 10.0.0.2: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=63 So there is a link between the PC and router.
In the Status tab of the router the WAN IP is 10.0.0.14
the Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 and the Gateway IP 10.0.0.2
How does this sound? |

| Hmmmm...you at school or work or something. Seems like you are going through another gateway. Try to ping a live site like microsoft.com or tech-forums.net or something as well.

| Yea, just type 'ping microsoft.com' from the command prompt.
Your 10.0.0.14 address is a strange WAN address. I don't it even is a valid address. Have you tried to turn off the cable modem and then unplug the router. What about 30 seconds and then plug the cable modem back in and after about 10 seconds or so plug the power back into the router. If this doesn't work, try using your reset function on your router.

| Tried "ping microsoft.com" after unplugging the modem and plugging it back in again. Just get the message "Ping request could not find host.."
I also tried resetting the router and then doing all of the above again, still get a Connected status coming from the setup utility and the same WAN address, but still no internet connection either. |

| Can you try and connect to the internet by bypassing the router all together. Just connect the DSL/Cable modem into the PC and then try disabling and re-enabling the LAN connection as before and then try to get on the net.
