I just moved into a new house that has high speed wireless internet. With a 5/5 signal, I have no issues connecting to the internet and browsing for the first 3 minutes. After that, all the forums that i visit, all the pages I try to load...won't. The connection speed starts out blazing fast and loading things instantly..and then minutes later it's worse than dial up. What could be the cause of this?

I enabled WPA security on the router (Ativa router)...i don't know why that would be an issue, but even my roommate has noticed a huge difference in internet speed after I enabled a different type of security. Neither of us do anything extreme, like streaming 50 videos at once or anything...i simply browse forum pages that should load instantly. My roommate just does the whole e-mail thing...so it's nothing hardcore that we're doing that's slowing the internet down...

Could this be a router or modem issue? I would appreciate some help troubleshooting this problem.

Adding security encryption does add additional overhead but should not slow you significantly to a crawling stop. One thing you can do is change the channel or frequency and see if that helps at all.

Do you really need WPA? Perhaps try just setting up a WEP key instead?
