Default Wireless Ethernet Card

OK. I have a WMP54GS. When I go to instal the software, it works and all, but it wont let me click the "Connect" button. Also, it won't let me access the "Profiles" tab. One other thing is that my connection speed is REALLY slow. I have Comcast as my Internet Provider. I have the WRT54GS as the router. It's about 30-40 feet from me. But I have tried EVERYTHING to make it faster. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Default It works

It works when I am right next to it. I mean, it's gaining speed I guess. I download anywhere from 30KB/s to 360KB/s. Sometimes it has a strong signal while other times it has a weak signal. It's strange I guess. Are there any settings that I can change to make this go faster?

I dont know, but it sounds a bit flakey. Almost as if your dirver is corrupt or old. Check for updates and current drivers for your card.

How many walls are between you and the wireless router?

Are there any appliances in the area that could cause interference? ( microwaves, 2.4 GHz cordless phones, etc... )

The bottom line is, the farther away you are, the less signal strength you have, and thus, the slower data transfer you will have. It will never be anywhere near as fast as a wired data connection over a network.
