Default wireless card substitution [wireless router]

I was just wondering if i could use a router instead of a wireless card? I have a spare one that i bought for like $20.
p.s. i know this is a wierd question

What are you trying to use the router for? A little confused what you're doing with it. If you mean connect to a wireless hotspot using a wireless router hooked to your pc, then no.
