Default Wired to Wireless NIC Converter???

Hi,

I have a printer with a built-in wired NIC and want something to connect to the RJ-45 port to allow it to connect to my wireless network.

Anybody know of a product? I know you can get USB and Parallel converters but these are print servers and I'd prefer RJ-45 as it has a built in web interface that appears to be only accessable through the NIC.

Many thanks in advance.

Linksys calls what you're looking for a wireless print server.

Here's a link.

Thanks for the reply.

AS far as I'm aware, Print Servers are used on printers that don't have an NIC. ie. parallel or USB connections. Mine has an NIC built in.

I can connect my printer directly to my hub via a Cat 5 cable. I am looking for a device to replace the cat 5 cable, thus putting it onto my wireless network.

I suppose another wireless hub would do it, as long as two wireless hubs can talk to each other. This just seams a bit over kill.

Access points or the wrong way round. i.e they make a wired hub wireless (amongst other things) allowing wireless NIC'd devices to connect to an existing wired network.

I'd have thought someone would have thought of this. It would be the same as connecting a device into the back of a normal, wired Network card on a PC.

Thanks

I think that you can use a print server.

If you don't want to go that route, you can always use a wireless bridge. I have used these before. I've used a Linksys WET11 to connect a computer with an RJ45 jack to a wireless network.
