Default Windows and routing table

How does windows form it's routing table? How can I add static routes to it (what I mean is if I have a more than one ethernet adapter, how do I tell traffic going to a certain IP range to use only that ethernet adapter)?

Default

C:\Documents and Settings\hp>route /?

Manipulates network routing tables.

ROUTE [-f] [-p] [command [destination]
[MASK netmask] [gateway] [METRIC metric] [IF interface]

...

you may wanna look into an app called winroute to provide advanced routing operations
