Windows and routing table

How does windows form it's routing table? How can I add static routes to it (what I mean is if I have a more than one ethernet adapter, how do I tell traffic going to a certain IP range to use only that ethernet adapter)?

you may wanna look into an app called winroute to provide advanced routing operations
