Default Will I get in trouble if I increase my net speed?

I recently read a previous thread on how to increase your net speed. Well I want faster net speed without having to move up to a business package. These are the steps:

"Microsoft Windows XP Professional gives the following information
on Qality of Service in Packet Scheduler:

Determines the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can
reserve. This value limits the combined bandwidth reservations of all
programs running on the system.

By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the
bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the
default.

If you enable this setting, you can use the "Bandwidth limit" box to
adjust the amount of bandwidth the system can reserve.

Specifies the maximum number of outstanding packets permitted on the
system. When the number of outstanding packets reaches this limit, the
Packet Scheduler postpones all submissions to network adapters until the
number falls below this limit.

To change the default value of 20 percent, you have to follow this
procedure:

Click on Start, goto Programs, goto Accessories.
Click on Command Prompt
Type gpedit.msc
Under Computer Configuration, click on 'Administrative Templates'
Click on Network
Click on QoS Packet Scheduler
Double-click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth
Check on Enabled
Change Bandwidth limit to 0 %
Click [Apply] [OK]

It may not improve file downloading, but it certainly gives improvement
in accessing encripted pages like those in email accounts. Improvement
can also be found if the site contains many icons or image files."

Now if I do this will I get in trouble? When I did this the box said not configured so even if I do this will it effect my net speed. Like any information would be greatly appreciatd.

ohh yeah I want to do this my old computer that is running Windows XP Pro

I believe you won't get in trouble but I don't know if that setting works.

The only way for you to increase your internet speed is to contact the ISP and upgrade... This setting controls the priority of certain packets that your computer transmits, won't "increase" internet speed.

Hello,

I would read this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article on Windows XP QoS:

Windows XP Quality of Service (QoS) enhancements and behavior
