| Your 4Kb is probably the true speed. I am presuming that you are downloading via internet explorer... i.e a software from download.com when you click on the download link and as soon as you get that 'save as' window, the OS starts saving the file in the temp folder and as soon as you select a location that data gets transferred from temp to your location. Based on the already present data, the download window shows extremely high speeds, when its not true, since that data is already present... so to make up for the lost time.. it shows that download is at 450kb Just a presumption based on a download via a web browser Could be a different problem if you're talking bittorrents or P2P. |

| Are you on dial-up? Go to http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp and run the speed test, that will tell you your true D/L and U/L speed.

| Wizard Techie | You have to realize that servers will slow down in heavy traffic. The server your ISP is using could have been flooded, as well as the MS one, which would be causing the slowdowns. The MS website is an international website, and MS is an international company, so at any given time, millions of people from all over the world are prolly logged into that server downloading one thing or another. |
