Default what broadband router do I need?

I've just got my own computer for xmas,and we already own a windows xp one. I need to buy a router in order to get the internet on my new computer. I've been looking for one, and my old computer's internet connection kodem is a USB, do i need to but something called an ethernet card in order to use the broadband on my new computer??please help!! Im only 16 and clueless and want my xmas present!!

If its a new computer, it already has an ethernet port. Jut get a Linksys Wirless G broadband router.
