Default Westel cable modem issue

Hello. I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer any suggestions/solutions for a Westel Versilink 327w cable modem. I have recently signed up with a company for VoIP service, and there is a definite problem that lies in the modem. If I set my firewall to medium, the calls I place will sometimes ring 2 or 3 times, then go to dead air, and other times if someone answers, I can hear them, but they cannot hear me. If I set the firewall to low, the telephone system works perfectly. Westel seems to not be of much help, mostly because a website for them isn't the most user friendly in the world. I do not know if anyone has a working solution....I know that a cable modem swap would be the simplest solution, but I am lazy and my ISP sucks, so if I could fix it inside the modem itself, this would be the easiest. Thanks in advance!

Hi.

I have a westell Wirespeed dsl modem. I'm not sure if it's the same command to get in, but I use the run menu <Start> <run> then I can type http://launchmodem. Then I can make configuration changes from there. You may also put in the model number of your modem and get more answers on the net.
