Default VNC on Mac

If I run a VNC server on my laptop and try to access it from another location, will the IP always be the same?

I don't know if my ISP uses dynamic or static IP, I'm using RoadRunner from TimeWarner cable. Currently, my setup is that my Macbook laptop connects to my Netgear router, which is physically hooked up to the Motorola modem, which is physically hooked up to the main desktop in the house. Basically, I'm connecting wirelessly with my laptop to my router.

Any thoughts?

Another question: If I'm running a VNC server with my Macbook, do I just need the server's IP to connect to the laptop from elsewhere?

If your ISP gives you a dynamic IP then the address that you will need to connect to from outside of your LAN will change. For this you could use a service like DynDNS. Either way, you will need to forward the port on your router.

Define another location...another location within your LAN or from a remote location outside of the LAN?
