Default Vista-XP network issues

Hello,

I am pretty much a complete newb when it comes to networking. The company I work for has a network set up where people at multiple PC's can access a contact management system that is set up on my computer. My computer (XP Pro SP2) acts as the server for this program.

We recently purchased two new Vista PC's for new hires, and I honestly have no idea how I can get those Vista computers to access the shared folder hosted by my computer. I also cannot gain access on the vista PC's to the shared network printer.

I am such a newb at this, that I am not even really sure what info I need to give to you all to help me to figure this issue out. So I guess that is where we should start. What ifo do you need to help me to troubleshoot this issue? Do you have any tips that I can try out right off the bat?

BTW, one of the new Vista computers is hard wired into our internet connection, and the other is wireless. They can see each other in the network settings, but neither can see the shared folders on my computer.

Thank you!

sounds like they're just not joined to the domain/workgroup properly
have you run the setup wizard?

I was actually able to get the Vista computers to find my XP computer later in the day today. I changed the name of my computer's workgroup, and the changed the name on theirs to match (we all had the workgroup named "WORKGROUP"). I then rebooted my computer, and then rebooted theirs, and viola... my computer's shared folders showed up on theirs.

Tomorrow, we will try to get them hooked up to the network printer. Hopefully what we did today will help us in achieving that goal.

Thanks for the reply!
