Default very strange connection troubles... please help :)

Well, I have a very strange connection trouble, and I admit that I don’t really understand it myself =/

I have a router that has two computers connected to it by Ethernet cable. all of a sudden, they both stopped connecting to the internet- but here is the strange thing- I could ping some websites in the command prompt with a 0% packet loss (some didn’t work though), but couldn’t log into MSN, xfire or use any browsers.

Tried everything to try to get them working again- resetting the router, re-installing NIC drivers, swapping the Ethernet cables, uninstalling then reinstalling drivers- everything.

But- yesterday, I plugged my laptop in just to see if it would connect- and it did! I don’t really understand why it worked, when the others didn’t, and it rules out a problem at the ISP’s end, so I’m stuck.

Do any of you guys have any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance!
