Default Verizon dsl + belkin router= not working

I was trying to fix a relative's internet yesterday and I just dont understand why it doesnt work. The computer is connected to a belkin wireless router, but through an ethernet cable. It shows that the computer is connected to the router, and that the router is connected to the dsl modem, but the internet just doesnt work. Under network connections there is only one- LAN. Also, a laptop in the house shows a connection to the same network wirelessly, yet the internet still does not work. Any ideas?

it'll tell you in the router status page in the online router config pages.

try pinging the router.

try pinging www.yahoo.com

try powercycling the router and modem.
