Question speaking over a voice modem, is it possible?

Hi,
This is probably really simple to do but is it possible at all to talk and play sounds over a voice modem down a phone line while in a call, I can dial and listen to the other person talking, but I don't know how to talk back to them, I've tryed various ways but no success, Any help would be cool
Thanks.

i think you need to have a microphone to talk back to them. make sure you plug it correctly into your sound card. it is usually color coded red or pink for mic input

I've got a microphone and eveything, and it all works, but I've tried dialing my cell phone and talking into the mic and trying to play sounds over my computer, but I can't hear anything through the phone I'm dialing, so I was wondering if there is anyway of doing that and like what settings would I need and everything?
