Default so im foolin around with my wireless card...

at home, in the middle of nowhere, and it says it is picking something up. What could it be, the neighbors might have a wireless network in their house but I really dont know

Ladies and Gentlemen, you are witnessing the birth of a new wardriver.....

Kidding...sort of....

But yes, this could very well be a neighbor. If they have a wiress AP or gateway of somesort that is Broadcasting it's SSID (ESSID). Then most wireless devices of the same standard will be able to connect to it as long as there is no security involved.

You can download a cool utility that will help determine if there are any other wireless networks here.

Also there is another really neat utility that helps you called WiFi KeyGen, you can download it here
