I have been having a problem with my computers internet connection the last year or so but I didn't realize that it was really a problem until I started to play Battlefield 2142 online. I never thought twice about getting only 150 kb/s while downloading files. However whenever I played battlefield online it would lag down and randomly disconnect me from games during the middle of playing. The ISP was contacted and they said there was a server malfunction a while back and said that they would fix it soon. Quickly thereafter the speed went up to about a 250 kb/s download speed. My family then decided to upgrade the the Elite SBC package from the basic, and when we did what happened was that the speed dropped back down to 150 kb/s. I never checked the speed on other computers before we had, but I recently got a new computer in my own room and when I hooked it up and started to download stuff I noticed that the speed was going at 650 kb/s. Is this simply a driver problem? Maybe a problem with the Ethernet card? Or something wrong with the Service? The modem we are using is currently brand new, less than 3 months old, because the old one broke after falling of the desk.

Has the 650 slowed down or what?

Our older Dell computer is still only going at 150 kb/s however using the same modem on my new computer I get a download speed of 650 kb/s.

Are you sure this is the actual speed and it isnt tricking you ?

Visit Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test on boths pc's and check that they are definatly different.

with this kind of speed you should have ZIRO problems..

download->run TCPView program and see which program is overloading your traffic..
