Default Sharing Starband connection

Hello, I'm new to this forum, just trying to find someone that may have be having the experience I'm having.

Maybe someone can help me out. I have been racking my brain on a computer issue. I'm trying to setup a shared internet connection using Starband. Main computer running Win98, I've installed a second NIC and given it a static IP of 192.168.0.1, installed Winproxy to set it up as a gateway. Used two crossover cables, one between Starband 360 modem and the computer. Another crossover cable going from second NIC to "wireless Dlink router" I changed the IP on router to 19.168.0.2 so it won't conflict with computer set as gateway. Main computer is working fine, I can get a good internet connection. I am trying to setup a new laptop to use the router wireless connection. Starband does not allow multiple connections, hence using the gateway, also you cannot connect any device to the Starband modem except for a PC. Does not work any other way. Starband does have a modem that allows sharing but they charge $500.00 for it and then $89.00 a month fee, that is outrageous.

I found this info: http://starbandusers.com/360gwrouter.htm

Here is the problem, I cannot get the laptop to pull DNS, I can ping dns servers, so it has a partial interent connection, but I cannot browse the internet. I have not found one article on the net using a Win98 system. I have tried statically assigning DNS but then I get completely knocked off. I called Starband support and they say it can be done, but is really tricky and they don't support it, so they are unwilling to help, they want you to buy the upgraded modem and service. Heres where the frustration sets in, when I get disconnected from the dlink router, I have to reset it and start over. I am almost there, but I seem to be missing something. My next step is to install XP Pro on the main system and try using it as a network bridge. 98 has too many networking limitations I am thinking. Could be the Winproxy software as well so I'm going to try XP ICS next too. ok, I installed XP Pro on the computer acting as the gateway and am using ICS which is which seems to working OK, but still same problem, just can't get a wireless connection.

Anyone have any suggestions before I go too bonkers?
