We've just purchased a router and have just set it up. The internet seems to be running extremely slow, and we've been told that it shouldn't affect our internet connection at all. Is this true? Is there any way we can fix this?

The router we're using is a Linksys Cable/DSL Router 4 port switch.

Run a bandwidth test with and without the router, and compare. Use www.testmy.net or www.dslreports.com/stest
They're right, the router should have no impact on internet speed.
