Guys, I am using a DSL connection and I find it very difficult to run firefox 2.0 on my computer or even opera 9.2. It keeps telling me that connection could not be established with server and I should check and see that I have internet connection. This do not happen when I ran firefox 1.5 but has not started and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me on this problem? It says to check for proxy server, someone told me I can reinstall the proxy server but how do i do that?

Is this setting on Direct?
Firefox>Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Connection> Settings>Direct Connection to the Internet

I just put it on direct connection right now, but it was originally on auto-detect proxy setting. it still won't connect.

if u r using DSL connection it should be on direct connection...
1 Was any other browser working properly on this DSL connection?
2 Have u made any changes to the newly install browser?
3 Is your modem/router is directly connected to the computer which you are using internet?

the only browser that works is the old ie version....like ie 6 even the new ie wont work. I think it says my port 139 is not working properly.
