| I have a Linksys WRT54G that's been doing pretty well so far. However, recently I've been having problems with it. For example, twice today I lost my internet connection on all computers. It was fixed by unplugging and replugging the router in. Is this a common problem with all routers, or am I just having bad luck? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for your help. |

| It's common on all routers. You could do a firmware update from the Linksys web site and that may fix it. If your router is more than 2 years old, you might consider getting a new one. New ones have more security and also will be less likely to have that issue. |

| Just found this: For better performance using the WRT54G v.5, it is IMPORTANT that your router's firmware is 1.00.9 or higher. Firmware version 1.00.9 improves router features, improves connection speed and provides a more stable connection compared to previous releases. NOTE: If you have a firmware lower than 1.00.9, it is IMPORTANT that you immediately upgrade the firmware. For instructions on how to upgrade the firmware on the WRT54G v5 http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust541...e_Update.htm?# (was linked from www.linksys.com ) |

| Good luck, version 5 is the flakeyest model out there.

| The router we have at work does the same thing. I can't even connect to the router through the network when it acts up. It seems to be a heat problem, since I installed a fan on the top of the router, the problem has disappeared. The only downside is the 54GS doesn't provide enough juice to run the fan after soldering the wires onto the plug connections.
