Hi ,

I have two comps now , and use only one 100MPS line in the house.
I bought a IP sharing device two split the line into two.
Now I wish to know how the windows vista (XP) sharing folder thingy works.
I can't make it work. Each time I share on folder on one computer , it is denying access at the other computer. I can see both COMPUTERs when running two windows vista's. What am I doing all wrong. I shared a folder but don't get access, I think I even tried unabling the firewall at each comp, but I might still be doing something wrong. If I put files in (Shared folder) section under users I can see them without trouble, but I want to share any file, folder and or drive , please advise

You have to set the 'Permissions' to allow the other computer or users access to the folders you are sharing. I'm not sure about Vista but it may still be the same as XP. Right click on the folder > properties > sharing tab > permissions button. Then add whoever you want or just allow everybody full access.

I did that , i think , what could be another reason why access is denied ?

I simply disabled the password and ID , because I didn't get it .
I never made passwords in the first place. Now with the password protection disabled and even firewalls disabled , I can see the shared folders from each computer , but when I double click on it , I get an error (not accessable) message , please advise
