Ok, here is my situation. I am getting cable internet access installed this Friday and I am purchasing a Motorola Surfboard SB5120 modem and a wireless router. I have two PC's that I have to connect, and I am doing it wirelessly. One of my PC's will have the modem and router attached to it. My main question is, do I need a PCI adapter or whatever on my other PC?? It is a newer Dell PC, does it already have one?? How can I check??Please help me out, I am new at this networking stuff.....Thanks again

yes you will need a wireless pci card. you can tell if theres some sort of antenna sticking out from the pci card slot. but most likely it doesnt have it so you should buy one of them. if you dont feel like installing that then a usb wirless adapter will work fine too you wont notice a speed difference btwn the two unless your wireless router is really far away.

Doesnt your ISP provide you with a modem? all the ones in my area do (you probably dont need to buy them, call to conferm)

basicly the best way is to check the dell site (it should show you your machines specs). If its a laptop it probably has one built in, but again conferm. If its a pc then check the back to see if theres a little antenna. I hear some on mother boards have it on board but I've never seen one so I dont know.
