I have a wireless network in my apartment. I recently have a problem though. There have always been people on my network and that really hasn't bothered me, but now they are starting to slow down my connection speed. How do I prevent them from getting on my Linksys environment.?

Make sure you have a cable connection to the router. Go into the routers configuration page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser and then whatever password you chose when you set it up. If you didn't the default is admin for the password. Then go to wireless security and turn on WEP or WPA. Then you will have to go into your wireless card configuration and enter the keys you used to encrypt the signal from the router. Once this is done you should be able to keep people off your network. You also might have to cycle the router once you turn on the encryption.

You might want to enforce MAC Addressing too, so that only your machine and those specified can identify and communicate with your wireless router.
