I've been trying to set up my Wanadoo (now orange) livebox so that I can use it to share files between computers. I have tried to connect one ethernet connection (desktop) and one wireless connection (laptop). The internet connection works fine.
According to post #20 here:
Solved: Wanadoo Livebox :network capable or internet only? - Page 2 - Tech Support Guy Forums
it is possible.
I have set up a home network and called it 'Home' on both machines.
I have created a wireless internet connection (though I don't think it is necessary) on both machines.
I have enabled file sharing on both.
I also have Norton IS 2007 and have gone to personal firewall and allowed the 192.168.1.... range with the 255.255.255.0 subnet mask under TCP and UDP.
Each computer has the folder sharing icons (a hand holding a folder) however I can't get them to communicate:
when I try "view workgroup computers" on My network Places it comes up with:
"Workgroup name (in this case: Home) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator to find out if you have access permissions.
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."
I am on an admin account.
Error message when you try to access a Windows XP-based network computer: "You might not have permission to use this network resource" - restrictanonomous is 0.
Has anyone else got their livebox to network?
Please could you help me.
