Is there an OS on it at all? You might need to install one.

yea i wasn't trying to be mean. and since crazygirl is a newb, i wanted to also tell her that there are OS forums here because she might have not known that. if i was being mean i woulduv put a mad smilie or sumtin like that to make it obvious. and i never made it sound like crime so chill.

What type of machine do you have? I know that IBM laptops have issues with their drive seating which causes this. It was also seen with certain drives from fugitzu (sp?).

an OS is an operational system... windows 98, windows 2000, windows xp........ ok this is what i did...... if you have a startup disk (floppy), put it in your computer and restart, when u restart, it should recognize the disk. then it will take u into DOS..... then once u are in DOS, insert a OS CD if you have one. once it is in, type the name of your CD-Rom drive. its usually E:/ or D:/ . once you typed that, press enter. then type setup.exe and then follow the step-by-step instructions.
